Fun things to do on Lake Estes
We love Lake Estes! Our luxury vacation rental Lake Estes Retreat is located on Lake Estes. It is a beautiful lake and is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, offering breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains and plenty of fun activities to enjoy. Whether you’re looking to spend a day on the water or just take in the stunning scenery, Lake Estes has something for everyone. Here are a few of our favorite activities on Lake Estes.
Go fishing

Lake Estes is a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts, offering a wide variety of fish species to catch. You can catch trout, bass, walleye, and more. There is a stream that feeds into Lake Estes and we have had great success in the stream as well as the lake itself. There is also good fishing where the stream continued below the dam. There is a meadow in this area that really is picturesque. Fishing is permitted year-round, and you can fish from the shore or from a boat. You’ll need a valid Colorado fishing license to fish on Lake Estes.
Rent a boat

Renting a boat is a great way to explore Lake Estes and take in the stunning scenery. You can rent a pontoon boat, kayak, canoe, or paddleboard from the Lake Estes Marina. Boats can be rented by the hour or for the entire day.
Go for a walk or bike ride

Lake Estes Trail, a 3.7-mile paved trail that loops around the lake. The trail is perfect for walking, jogging, or biking and offers stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. We keep several bikes available for use at Lake Estes Retreat. Bikes can also be rented at Lake Estes Marina.
Picnic or just chill by the lake
Lake Estes is the perfect spot for a picnic. There are several picnic areas around the lake with tables, grills, and restrooms. You can pack your own picnic lunch or grab some food from one of the many restaurants in Estes Park.
Watch the wildlife

Lake Estes is home to a variety of wildlife, including elk and deer. You can often see these animals grazing along the shore of the lake or wandering through the nearby meadows. We also regularly see eagles and a wide variety of birds and waterfowl on the lake (over a hundred species)!
Attend a festival

Throughout the year, Estes Park hosts several festivals and events on the shores of Lake Estes. These include the Estes Park Winter Festival, Estes Park Duck Race, and, of course, the Estes Park 4th of July Celebration. The Estes Park Retreat is a great place to watch the fireworks from the property. These events offer live music, food, and fun activities for the whole family. Lake Estes Retreat is a great location to sit on the deck and watch the 4th of July fireworks. A recent addition is the Frozen Dead Guy Festival in Estes Park.
