We often get asked by our guests staying at our luxury vacation rentals in Estes Park about some of the best places to eat in and around town. Here are some of our “top picks!”
- Hunter’s Chophouse
Located just of the downtown area and close to Lake Estes, we often have dinner at Hunter’s chophouse. There is a small bar in the back that is frequented by locals and the food at the restaurant has been consistently good. They usually have good options with trout and salmon. They also update and adjust the menu regularly. This restaurant is located very close to our vacation rental, Lake Estes Retreat.
- The Rock Inn
We love the Rock Inn! The Rock Inn Mountain Tavern is a historic restaurant and bar that has been serving locals and visitors since 1937. This is a great place with good food, and they often have music as well. They usually have a good selection of food with unique specials. Their menu features classic American dishes like burgers and sandwiches, as well as unique options like elk meatloaf and Colorado green chili. The staff is also always great here!
- Twin Owls Steakhouse
Twin Owls Steakhouse is a fine-dining restaurant situated in a stunning 1929 log cabin just minutes from downtown Estes Park. The restaurant features hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, and an extensive wine list. Their rustic ambiance and attentive service make it a perfect spot for a romantic dinner or special occasion. We love the view at this restaurant and the staff is always great. We have also heard some really good acoustic music here. You will want reservations for this place as it often books up.
- Bird & Jim
We really like the vibe at Bird & Jims. This is very close to our vacation rental Park Entrance Lodge located on the Riverwalk in downtown Estes Park just off High Drive, Bird & Jim is a farm-to-table restaurant featuring seasonal menus with locally sourced ingredients and an extensive wine list. The restaurant’s rustic yet modern ambiance and attentive service make it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Don’t miss their signature pan-seared trout, caught locally and cooked to perfection. There are some great views to enjoy while relaxing with a drink after hiking!
- The Stanley Hotel
The Stanley Hotel offers several dining options for guests and visitors alike. Cascades Restaurant is an elegant fine-dining experience, while Whiskey Bar & Lounge offers a more relaxed atmosphere with a wide selection of drinks and small plates. The whiskey selection is very impressive and worth the trip in itself! The hotel’s outdoor patio provides stunning mountain views and is an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or drinks with friends. The Post Chicken and Beer is also a nice casual option at the Stanley with reasonable prices. They also have great outdoor dining if the weather is cooperating. Note that the Stanley usually charges for parking ($10) , but they were also giving out $5 tokens that could be used on the grounds.
- The Dunraven Inn
The Dunraven Inn is a family-owned and operated Italian restaurant that has been serving up delicious food since 1976. Located along Lake Estes and walking distance from our luxury vacation rental, Lake Estes Retreat, the restaurant’s cozy atmosphere and friendly service make it a perfect spot for a romantic dinner or family gathering. There is indoor and outdoor seating with a beautiful view of Lake Estes and the Rocky Mountains. Their menu features classic Italian dishes like spaghetti and meatballs, as well as unique options like lobster ravioli.
- Claire’s on the Park
Claire’s on the Park is a family-owned and operated restaurant located in the historic Crags Lodge. The restaurant’s cozy ambiance and stunning mountain views make it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or special occasion. Their menu features classic American dishes like steak and seafood, as well as vegetarian and gluten-free options. We frequent this place for lunches and dinners as well.
- Antonio’s Pizza
If you are looking pizza, Antonio’s is a great option. The are located just down the street from our vacation rental, Lake Estes Retreat. Their pizza is great as well as their calzones. They have dine-in as well as take out.
